Thanks to the guys at Kilgore Comics in Denver for including me in their most recent quarterly publication.
This short two-pager is, like most of my work, autobiographical to some extent. Living deep in the woods often requires interacting with nature on a very intimate level. These interactions do not always contain the romantic ideals that people think about when they think of life “out west”. This story is one of those moments where I thought there was something really beautiful and compassionate in the way the characters helped each other and cared for each other, despite the weirdness and sadness that permeated what was ultimately a very gruesome moment.
